Rhino3d - License Options
Rhino offers three distinct licensing methods to accommodate various user needs: Cloud Zoo, Single-Computer, and LAN Zoo.
Cloud Zoo Licensing
Cloud Zoo is designed for maximum flexibility, allowing users to access their licenses from anywhere in the world using a Rhino account. This model is particularly advantageous for individuals and teams who work across multiple devices or locations. Once set up, users can log in from any computer where Rhino is installed, eliminating the need for local license management and server maintenance. Cloud Zoo also allows organizations to pool licenses and share them among team members, simplifying license distribution and management. Users can work both online and offline without the fear of losing access to their software, making it a convenient choice for professionals on the go.
Single-Computer Licensing
Single-Computer licensing locks the software to one specific computer. This option is straightforward for individual users who only need Rhino installed on a single device. Activation is simple—users enter a key on their designated machine, and after activation, no internet connection is required. This makes it an excellent choice for professionals working in secure environments or remote areas with limited internet access. If a user needs to move their license to another device, they can easily do so by removing it from the old computer and installing it on the new one, without needing to contact support. However, sharing licenses across multiple devices is not possible with this method, making it less suitable for users who need that flexibility.
LAN Zoo Licensing
LAN Zoo licensing is tailored for organizations that want to manage multiple licenses within a private network. This method involves installing a LAN Zoo server that allows a set of licenses to float among users connected to the network. This centralized management simplifies license allocation and ensures that users within the organization can access Rhino as needed. The LAN Zoo model is ideal for larger teams or educational institutions that require robust license management and the ability to support multiple users simultaneously. For remote access, a VPN connection is necessary, allowing team members to connect to the LAN Zoo server from home or satellite offices.
