The Rhino 3D V8 Academic Upgrade is available to existing owners of a previous Rhino Academic licence, from V1 through V7, who want to move up to the latest release without paying the price of a brand new academic licence.
It carries all the same benefits as the standard V8 Academic licence, including the full commercial feature set and Grasshopper, at an even lower upgrade price for eligible students, educators, and academic staff who simply need to bring their existing setup current.

Licence details
- Type: Perpetual, single-user academic upgrade licence — identical features to the commercial version
- Eligibility: Requires a valid, previously purchased Rhino licence (any previous version), plus current proof of academic status
- Transferability: Not transferable — cannot be sold, shared, or transferred to another user. The licence itself is otherwise identical to a commercial licence
- Activation: Install on any computer you own or control — just make sure only one is running the licence at the same time
- Legacy access: Free legacy keys for Rhino 7 and Rhino 6 available on request

Can I use this for commercial work?
Yes. Educational licences have the same features and functionality as the commercial version and can be used for commercial activities. The only restriction is that they can't be sold, shared, or transferred to another user.
Do you offer training?
Yes — Rhino Level 1 and Level 2 training is available with any Rhino product or plugin purchase, consisting of a guide manual and email support you can work through in your own time. Contact our team for details.
Can it be used on multiple computers?
Yes — as the named licence holder you can install Rhino on several machines and sign in via Cloud Zoo on each. It stays a single-user licence though: other people can't use it, and it can't be pooled in a Cloud Zoo Team.
