Drakon3D – Parametric Jewellery Design

Drakon3D is a parametric jewellery design plugin for Rhino 3D. It provides specialist tools for jewellers developing gemstone settings, organic forms and related design variations.

Its parametric workflow helps you adjust linked design elements and explore collections based on shared modelling logic. The relationships available depend on the tools and setup used; review each variation before preparing it for manufacture.

Parametric Gemstone Settings

Builders for prongs, bezels, shanks and gemstone layouts help you develop and revise jewellery designs. Adjust dimensions and arrangements using the supported controls, then check stone clearances, setting geometry and fit against your workshop requirements.

Organic Modelling & Patterns

SubD modelling tools support flowing jewellery forms alongside Rhino's other modelling methods. Pattern tools can help distribute settings or decorative elements over a design. Check the supported commands and their behaviour in your installed Drakon3D build.

Preparing for Manufacture

Use material weight and costing tools to inform design decisions, checking the material inputs and pricing options available in your edition. Cost estimates do not replace a production quotation.

Before STL export and printing, inspect dimensions, wall and prong thicknesses, mesh integrity and casting allowances. Automatic geometry generation does not guarantee a watertight mesh or a manufacture-ready design.

System Requirements & Compatibility
  • Platform: Drakon3D requires a supported Windows installation. It is not a native macOS plugin.
  • Hardware: Check the developer's current operating system, memory and graphics requirements for your Drakon3D build and Rhino release.
  • Rhino Compatibility: Confirm the supported Rhino releases and any Grasshopper dependencies before purchasing or upgrading. Rhino 9 availability does not by itself confirm Drakon3D compatibility.
  • Earlier Rhino Releases: A Rhino 9 key works directly with Rhino 6, 7 and 8 without separate legacy keys. This can help you retain a plugin-supported earlier installation, but does not guarantee Drakon3D compatibility or grant additional independent concurrent-use rights.
