Pricing questions
How much does Rhino 3D cost?
A Rhino 3D V8 commercial licence costs £790 ex VAT (£948 inc VAT). The academic version is £150 ex VAT (£180 inc VAT). Upgrades from previous versions start at £79 ex VAT. All licences are perpetual — there are no ongoing fees.
Is there a subscription or recurring fee?
No. Rhino 3D uses a perpetual licence model. You pay once and own the software indefinitely. Upgrades to future major versions are optional and separately priced.
Why is the academic licence cheaper?
McNeel offers academic pricing for verified students, educators, and institutions. The academic licence is functionally identical to the commercial version — it includes commercial use rights. The lower price reflects McNeel’s educational discount, not feature restrictions.
How much is the upgrade to Rhino 8?
The commercial upgrade from Rhino V1–V7 to V8 costs £450 ex VAT (£540 inc VAT). The academic upgrade is £79 ex VAT (£94.80 inc VAT). Your previous licence remains valid after upgrading.
Do I have to pay VAT?
VAT at 20% is applied to all UK orders at checkout. If you’re a VAT-registered business, you can reclaim the VAT portion. Non-VAT-registered customers (including many students and sole traders) pay the inc VAT price shown.
What’s the difference between Lab Licence and 30x Class Pack?
A Lab Licence is a single floating licence managed via McNeel’s Zoo network tool — one active user at a time per seat. The 30x Class Pack is 30 individual perpetual academic licences — each student owns their own key and keeps it after graduating.
